Trigonal takes its name from Rita Long—industrial designer, color consultant, collector, traveler, and lifelong patron of the arts.

Trained at Cooper Union, Rita built a creative life at a time when few women held that kind of professional authority. Her eye for color and design reached from commercial interiors to the home she composed around an evolving collection of prints, objects, and ideas.

Her curiosity moved without borders: theater, furniture, geometry, Japanese and French, travel, food, civil liberties, and the interests of everyone she loved. She did not treat culture as decoration. It was a way of paying attention.

She stopped to smell the roses—and made sure to share the experience.
